I used a standard definition Sony Handycam from about 2003 to 2007 (<a href="http://visualmadness.com/2008/11/17/void-deck-2007/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Void Deck</a> was the last card video I shot with it), and after that I got a JVC GZ-MG575 which I used to shoot videos like <a href="http://visualmadness.com/2008/11/17/sick-and-twisted-wings-of-the-mockingbird-2007/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Sick and Twisted Wings of the Mockingbird</a> and <a href="http://visualmadness.com/2008/11/17/portable-playground-2008/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Portable Playground</a> with. Then in last August I got a hold of the <a href="http://visualmadness.com/2009/01/08/the-metamorphosis-is-complete/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Canon HV30</a>, which has been my favorite camera by far. You can see it used in the <a href="http://visualmadness.com/2008/11/22/starburst-2008/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Starburst</a> video. As for editing, I started out using Windows Movie Maker (<a href="http://visualmadness.com/2008/11/17/visual-madness-2004/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Visual Madness</a> and <a href="http://visualmadness.com/2008/11/17/re-turn-of-the-kings-2004/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">Re-turn of the Kings</a>), then moved on to Sony Vegas when I worked on <a href="http://visualmadness.com/2008/11/17/hffh/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">HFFH</a>. I continued using Vegas for many years until I completely switched over to Mac last summer, after which I've been using Apple's Final Cut Pro ever since. Hope that answers your questions!
