The New Theory11 Logo

February 23rd, 2009 § 17

I don’t usually make posts on this site about the current online magic/flourish scene (unless it has to do with awesome new releases, of course), but the recent hype over the revelation of Anonymous (a.k.a. Daniel Garcia) as the new artist at Theory11 has prompted me to come out and express my honest feelings on the subject.

To clarify, the addition of Garcia to the team isn’t what sparked this post; if you think about it, it’s actually makes a lot of sense. What this post is about, then, is this:

theory 11?

The site’s About page pretty much states it clearly: Theory11 is a group of eleven individuals. After all, that is where the name comes from, doesn’t it? Think about it – the Fantastic Four is called the Fantastic Four because there are four people in it. That’s why Spider-Man didn’t join the team – “Fantastic Five” just didn’t have that nice ring to it. True, She-Hulk did end up becoming a member, but that was only because The Thing had quit prior to that – the equilibrium of Four would have been disturbed otherwise.

If my Marvelous example didn’t get the idea through clearly enough, perhaps this visual aid will serve as a better indication of what I mean:

Theory17

This has gone on for too long not to induce major confusion amongst new visitors to the site. So, in the interest of clarity (and honesty), I hereby suggest a subtle, yet sincere alteration to the site’s name and logo:

new t11 logo

So there you have it, guys – it’s yours for the taking. That’s all from me for now, but don’t worry – I’ll be back in a couple of months with a new logo for whomever the lucky 18th member is.

Perhaps Richard will finally get an Artist Profile of his own?

Theory17 is on Twitter! Be sure to follow it at @Theory17 for all the latest and greatest T17 news and happenings.

Good point. It made kinda sense at first with T11 and stuff, but they should change the name, or else, the other artists may feel left out. =|

When they launched this site, I thought they said the '11' was because there were 10 fundamental rules for successful magic, and this site would be the 11th, or something. But they might just have implanted that false memory in my mind through some kind of magic.

im actually going to follow them (or you kevin same thing), i think im out of my mind…………………….

I don't really understand the theory1 thing, care to fill me in?

  • AristoteNo Gravatar says:

Haha…I was secretly waiting for that kind of post :D
One day I attempted doing a post on t11's forums about that but they removed it…

  • Harapan OngNo Gravatar says:

By the way, they seemed to have changed it to "began as a group of 11"…

The thing is that 80% of those guys aren't even active on the site. What's up with that?

      I know, what's the DEAL with…

      * Kevin has been kicked by Eddie

But yeah, I agree – as of right now there's not a lot of input coming in from many of the listed contributors… in some cases, the artists have just put one or two items out, only to never be heard from again. Kind of a shame, because I'm honestly looking forward to any new material guys like Lee Asher and Aaron Fisher will be putting out.

Ya I really think t11 has lied in a sense about many things, for example what you just mentioned; the people who are 'artists' at the site, a lot of them are kind of a joke… seems like they log in once a week just to show to everyone that they've logged in and are part of the site… they don't post, they don't release products, etc. It's like taking a job that you only take a shift at once every few months and call yourself 'part of their team'.

      • Mic WongNo Gravatar says:

they are doing it–take Aaron Fisher for example–on their own.
Does tell you something about how T11's mindset changed and their stuffs weren't "fitting in".

you know, T11 products just can't have more than one word. Be it search, or destroy. No ANDs Sr.

  • agastyaNo Gravatar says:

well ya, this is correct but i think that they r only counting the 11 people considering the fact that aaron fisher has removed panic but dan hauss takes his placewho actually have a DVD on the tricks section no 1 on 1
    maybe this is why
though i have no idea and this is right it will create alot of confusion for new visitors
