New Massive Attack – Paradise Circus

December 22nd, 2009 § 1

Formerly titled Harpsichord, this new single from Massive Attack‘s upcoming 2010 record Heligoland is one I’ve been waiting to put on my iPod for ages. Granted, the accompanying music video for it’s been out for at least a month now, but those of you who’ve seen it will understand why I didn’t post it on this site… jokes about hanging I can do, but you gotta draw the line somewhere.

While Yolanda Quartey’s vocals in the original echo the great Shirley Bassey in their delivery, I definitely enjoy the new recording so much better. Hope Sandoval‘s borderling-whispering melodies in this track complement the simple backing tune and hand claps so well, you could easily have this going on repeat for hours without realizing that half a day has passed.

There’s no doubt this is going to become a huge radio favorite by the time spring rolls around, so remember where you heard about it first! Haha.

What? The Hype Machine? No idea what you’re talking about. At all. Noooo sirreeee.

Ok, long time since last comment. But this one so damn faken really deserved one. Common. Clapping is cool, mellow voice is damn beautiful, chill instrumentals is just fantastic.

And when you combine these, what do you expect to get? Something a little too good, and yes, here it is. Wow. Thanks for sharing, Kevin! I will indeed remember where I heard about it first.
